WORLD WAR 2  World War II (1939-1945) was a global conflict involving many nations and lasting for six years. It began on September 1, 1939, when Germany, under the leadership of Adolf Hitler, invaded Poland, prompting Britain and France to declare war on Germany. The war involved major powers, including the Allied Powers (led by the United States, Soviet Union, and United Kingdom) and the Axis Powers (led by Germany, Italy, and Japan).
