The Balakot strike was carried out in response to a terrorist attack on February 14, 2019, in Pulwama, Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, where a suicide bomber from JeM attacked a convoy of Indian paramilitary forces, resulting in the deaths of 40 Indian soldiers.
